Twenty Years with Carpal Tunnel
– a chat I had with a patient today
Today I received a call from Mr. G. who lives in Brooklyn. He has suffered for twenty years with carpal tunnel syndrome in his right hand. He has a combination of symptoms in his hand and fingers. Moreover, there is no rest from the carpal tunnel symptoms that bedevil him 24/7.
Twenty years with carpal tunnel, now his hand is “dead”
After twenty years with carpal tunnel syndrome Mr. G. still has the “big 3” symptoms in his hand and fingers:
But last year it reached the point of being “end-stage”. That’s when the thumb muscle atrophies (degenerates). In fact, atrophy is quite noticeable as the muscle (bump) at the base of your thumb flattens out.
A failed surgery
Last year Mr. G’s doctor convinced him to have surgery. Why would a doctor advise him (an end-stage patient) to have hand surgery? It’s incredible! Study after study shows that hand surgery is useless for end-stage carpal tunnel. Unfortunately for him, I think the surgeon recommended it out of plain greed. Indeed, I’ve seen that happen multiple times before. My blood boils, and I feel horrible for this poor man.
Now, a year later, the surgery clearly failed. (Of course, any professional would have predicted.) Thus, he still has pain, numbness and tingling in his right hand.
But he told me, “I’ve written off my right hand. It’s dead. But I’m concerned about my left hand now.”
Pain started in his left hand 4 years ago. Today his left hand is about 50% as bad as the right. You would classify the left as having moderate or severe carpal tunnel. In fact, having symptoms appear on the other hand occurs in 80% of carpal tunnel patients.
He ordered a Carpal Rx Standard Package 2 weeks ago to treat his left hand. Hence, today he had a question for me.
“Am I doing the massage correctly?” he asked.
From his description, the Carpal Rx was n the correct position. However, he was massaging much too hard.
“A light massage is far better than a hard one,” I advised.
I also advised Mr. G. to treat twice daily for 4-6 weeks. As a result, I’m confident he will eliminate his left hand symptoms.
Even after twenty years with carpal tunnel, “don’t give up!”
I circled back to his right hand again. I said, “Mr. G., don’t give up on your dead hand!”
I told him that even after more than twenty years with carpal tunnel, I’ve had patients get great results with the Carpal Rx.
In fact, he said he still has hand function there! He can still grasp with his thumb. Also, he still has feeling all over the “dead” hand.
“That’s great…so your hand is not dead!” I exclaimed. This was terrific news. Usually, when a patient says their hand is dead, it’s just a claw. It has no function or feeling. However, Mr. G’s hand was still alive, and that means there’s hope.
I advised him to also use the Carpal Rx on that “dead” right hand. I told him that you don’t need 100% of your nerve fibers to get good function. As a matter of fact, just a small percent of viable nerve fibers will give you amazingly good hand function. Indeed, since he can still wiggle his thumb and have sensations tells me there are good, living fibers remaining in the nerve.
“So since you still have living nerve fibers, you should also treat that hand,” I advised.
For the most part, I estimate Mr. G. will restore at least some usable function in his “dead” right hand. And I’m very confident that – at the very least – his right hand pain symptoms will disappear with Carpal Rx treatment.
The importance of night bracing
Finally, I told him that night bracing was just as important as the myofascial massage. Indeed, the Carpal Rx gives you faster results if you brace at night.
Then he told me he once purchased 2 braces that were sold for carpal tunnel syndrome. In fact, each cost $285. Also, he said they didn’t work.
“My hands hurt worse in the morning after wearing them,” he said.
I asked, “Do they have a metal spine on the palmar side of the brace?”
Indeed, he confirmed they had a metal spine there.
“Those are not carpal tunnel braces,” I said. “They will do more harm than good, and it’s why you wake up with more pain.”
Hence, the metal spine is the culprit. Therefore, I invented the best carpal tunnel brace – which specifically re-locates that spine.
I told Mr. G. to remove the spine from his expensive braces. Even though the brace will lose stability, it’s better than having the metal push on his wrist joint. (However, he told me he would feel better if he had 2 Carpal Rx Night Braces instead.)
As a result, Mr. G. thanked me abundantly and sincerely. In fact, he said, “You told me more than two surgeons did in my twenty years with carpal tunnel.”
Hairdressers and stylists are at high risk for developing carpal tunnel syndrome. But there are great exercises targeted toward relieving symptoms — and even reversing this painful condition. The only commitment is taking the time to do these exercises during the day.
Two 15 minute Carpal Rx treatments
for 30 days cures symptoms in
97% of carpal tunnel patients.
About 15 years ago my wife was waking up during the wee hours screaming from carpal tunnel pain.
This isn’t an exaggerating. She’d literally scream from the pain shooting up through her wrist and into her shoulder. The poor thing still shudders when she thinks about it.
I knew she had carpal tunnel syndrome. And being a physiologist, I knew how to treat her. I’m skilled in a physical therapy technique called myofascial release. It’s a type of massage with an excellent track record for completely curing carpal tunnel symptoms.
So I’d massage her arm until the pain subsided and we could both go back to sleep. But her pain was so severe that she insisted on wanting surgery. It was so bad that she was afraid to go sleep at night.
I was dead-set against surgery because I knew myofascial release was a much better option. I made a bargain with her. Give me 30 days to cure her symptoms using massage and if it didn’t work – I’d go along with the surgery.
She agreed and I got busy in the lab. I hodgepodged together the first Carpal Rx prototype. Using it before bed for 15 minutes, she was able to sleep through the night by the 2nd day.
Carpal Rx, born out of love & compassion.
Dr. Z invented Carpal Rx to cure his wife’s symptoms so she didn’t have to undergo surgery.
